Band Debuts Single at Grand Ole Opry and Announces Donation To The Patriot Guard
May 6, 2014 (Xenia, OH)—Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers are pleased to announce their newest single, "The Last Parade," is being released worldwide today! Written by Steve Bonafel, "The Last Parade" is in honor of Sgt. Nickolas Carnes of Dayton, KY who was killed in Afghanistan in 2007, and recounts the writer's thoughts and feeling as he attended the soldier's funeral. It is available for digital download via Airplay Direct for radio programming, and can be purchased via iTunes and Amazon. "The Last Parade" is the first single from the band's upcoming Rebel Records CD, Another Day From Life, set for release later this year.
"This past winter we had finished arranging mostly new songs for the next JMRR CD release," explains Joe Mullins. "Then, I received a demo of "The Last Parade." It was SO moving - a fantastic song! We HAD to add it to our new recording. We were so taken by the way this song delivers a wonderful message about a very touching and tender theme." The single was produced by JMRR and includes Mike Terry (mandolin), Evan McGregor (fiddle), Duane Sparks (guitar) and Randy Barnes (bass) with the vocal arrangement featuring Duane, Joe and Mike.
"Our goal is to reverently deliver the song to honor those who have made the supreme sacrifice and to thank their families," continues Mullins. "Freedom is not free and those charged with defending it and families who suffer the loss and heartbreak will hopefully be comforted by the song."
The band performed at the Grand Ole Opry on Friday, May 2nd and were honored to debut "The Last Parade" from the hallowed stage. In attendance, were songwriter Steve Bonafel andMrs. Wray Jean Carnes, mother of Sgt. Nicholas Carnes for whom the song was written. The audience was virtually silent during the performance but erupted in a standing ovation when the last note was sung. Grand Ole Opry member Connie Smith interviewed Mullins from the stage at which time he announced that 100% of the proceeds from the digital download of "The Last Parade" through Veterans Day will be donated to The Patriot Guard, a support group available in all 50 states to honor fallen heroes at a family's request. The Patriot Guard Riders is a 100% Volunteer, Federally registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization which ensures dignity and respect at memorial services honoring Fallen Military Heroes, First Responders and Honorably Discharged Veterans.
